artLIVE – On November 28, the event ‘Quintessentially British’, hosted by the British Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City at Thu Thiem Riverstage, took place with great success and left a lasting impression.
Showcasing British heritage and craftsmanship in Viet Nam
“Quintessentially British” offered an exceptional business networking experience celebrating British heritage and contemporary craftsmanship. The event also marked a significant milestone as the UK – Viet Nam partnership advances to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, paving the way for deeper collaboration across political, economic and cultural spheres.

Guests also had the opportunity to meet British artists currently working in Viet Nam with creative talents who continue to enrich the artistic dialogue between the two nations.
For decades, British luxury has stood as a hallmark of cultural richness and economic value. In Vietnam, British brands continue to be highly regarded for their quality, sophistication, and respect for timeless craftsmanship.

The event brought together seven outstanding British brands across automotive, fragrance, fashion, finance, and technology, each well established in the Vietnamese market.
Among them were Duncan Taylor Scotch Whisky, a symbol of independent bottling mastery since 1938; Penhaligon’s, the iconic fragrance house distributed by Escentials since 1870; and Holland & Sherry, renowned for premium British fabrics combined with Vietnam’s refined bespoke tailoring. McLaren, the legendary supercar brand, showcased more than six decades of racing heritage.

They were joined by Bushmills, Highland Park, The Glenturret, The Botanist, and Fever Tree distributed by Mercantile Fine Drinks – representing centuries-old distilling traditions from Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Standard Chartered added depth to the showcase as a trusted financial institution with over 120 years in Vietnam, offering Priority Banking tailored to global personalization standards. Completing the lineup was XOR, a fully handcrafted British luxury phone brand.

Expanding opportunities for British brands in the Vietnamese market
The event also underscored the impact of the UK – Vietnam Free Trade Agreement and the UK’s accession to the CPTPP (Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership), both of which unlocked new prospects for British brands in Vietnam.
These developments have contributed to the rapid growth of Vietnam’s high net worth consumer segment, creating fertile ground for premium British products and services.
From craftsmanship, design, automotive, gastronomy, and spirits to finance and technology, British businesses now have greater opportunities to strengthen their engagement and expand their presence in this vibrant and promising market.

Alexandra Smith, British Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, shared: “British luxury is defined by its heritage, storytelling and dedication to excellence. As the UK and Viet Nam enter a new chapter as Comprehensive Strategic Partners, we are committed to supporting British brands as they grow, innovate and build meaningful connections with potential Vietnamese brands here.”
Alongside celebrating British heritage and marking the new phase of bilateral cooperation, the British Consulate General also encouraged brands and guests to contribute to the Vietnam Fatherland Front to support communities affected by natural disasters.

This meaningful initiative accompanied the recently announced £800,000 relief package, underscoring the UK Government’s commitment to supporting communities vulnerable to climate change.
The event was supported by Standard Chartered and Thu Thiem Riverstage, helping create a polished and meaningful space for connection.
